HP laserjet printing trouble

By shaun ·
I have an HP laserjet 4, it is on the network via Jetdirect, , my problem lies with printing graphics, it will only print half of the graphic. everyone else can print properley on the same printer, does anyone know what can cause this, and how to get around it?

can you print the same graphic from other printers? Does the printer display a message like "W1 Image adapt?" If so you need to add mor memory to the printer. If it is a Laser JEt 4 Plus you can use standard EDO Simms. If it is any other Laser Jet 4 you will need ECC(error correcting / parity)simms.

are you getting any messages in the printer panel? sounds like a memory issue.

thankyou for your reply, this appears to be a common answer, so most likely

I agree it sounds like a printer memory problem. A quick (and free!) way to check this out is to try printing the graphic at 300 dpi instead of 600 (reduces the memory requirement to 25% of what was required).

If this does the trick then it's time to hit the shops!

I think you need to change the page protect setting to A4 or letter depending on your location/ size of paper you use.

If the previous answers don't help you - try checking that you have the correct driver installed. This has solved quite a few printer problems for me using HP JetDirect.
