After a storm-induced power outage, my HP Media Center PC m7167c would fail to boot from a complete shut off situation (turning on the button). The HP blue screen comes on with flickering lines and locks up. If I use the recovery CD, I can boot up Windows XP and everything seems to work. If I restart from Windows, it boots up okay. However, if I turn the PC completely off and try to boot by turn the button on, the same problem.
Sometimes I have to unplug the peripherals to boot from the recovery PC also.
Is this a BIOS problem or Bios battery problem?
Can anyone help?
