My Hp dv6243ci notebook running vista home does not recognize the dvd burner. The device manager shows a splat on the drive. I have uninstalled the drive and rebooted. I called HP support and they sent me a drive which has the same issue. The notebook has no recovery disk as they are on the hidden partition of the hard drive. The notebook now has SP1 installed and still no dvd drive. CMOS has one option for drives disabled or enabled, I have tried both. Oh yes the Warranty is up. Any ideas? Thanks Rick
