I am trying to connect an HP Pavilion 9680C OEM for home use to a Linksys Hub to the internet. I am using a Kingston KNE110TX NIC in the Pavilion machine. My cables have been tested with a cabletester and are good. The Linksys hub has a similiar HP Pavilion already connected and accessing the internet thru IE5 and AOL thru the desktop icon. The NIC’s lights are al lit (10/100), the hub lites for the port of Pavilion in question are all lit upon turning on the machine, and I can ping the loopback adapter(127.0.0.1). The wild card here is the Pavilion came with a Lucent Wildwird DSL Modem NIC that doesn’t seem to be there by visual inspection and when deleted the HP reinstalls upon reboot. Anyone run into similiar problems with HP Pavilion OEM 9680C with Lucent Wildwire DSL Modems installed? Is it as simple as popping out all modem cards and having Kingston by self? Some feedback about Pavilion problems would be appreciated. Thank you.
