Just wondering if anyone might be able to help me.
My zv5000 has all of a sudden decided it doesn’t want to work.
When I turn it on, nothing happens. If the DC adaptor is connected, the charging light comes on but the laptop still wont turn on. This made me think it’s probably not a faulty power jack, as many people have found this problem to be caused by on zv5000’s. The power button has not moved position, so I know its not “stuck off”, and I’ve bought a new battery so it’s not that either. I was thinking the ram might not have been seated properly, but reseating it doesnt help.
There’s no smell or ticking or beeping while the adaptor is plugged in either.
I’ve also checked the ram & HDD with other equipment so I know they’re all working ok.
However, the screen has been over-extended, and I haven’t had a change to take the screen off and check if maybe a snapped cable is causing a short or something, because the screen is proving very difficult to get apart, most likely due to the damage the idiot who over-extended it caused it.
Would the charging light still be working if the power supply itself was stuffed?
The only thing I can think of that it may be is a shorted fuse on the motherboard, something due to the screen being over-extended or a dead cpu. any ideas?
I’m hoping it could still be the power supply or something I can repair myself.. otherwise I may have to throw it away and buy a new one because it’s just not worth paying to fix it when I can get a new one cheaper than the repair cost.
