HP PAVILLION/VISTA WILL NOT SHUT DOWN

By tsgs01 ·
HOOKED TO MY BELKINS ROUTER AND COMCAST/ IT WILL RUN ON SHUTDOWN UNTIL IT PERFORMS A FILE DUMP OR BY CHANCE JUST RESTARTS. HOOK IT UP TO GEEK SQUAD NETWORK AND IT WORKS FINE. BELKINS SETUP THE ROUTER, COMCAST THE MODEM. THEY BLAME IT ON EACHOUTER OR HP AS DOES HP. I WOULD LIKE TO FIX THIS BEFORE UPDATING TO WINDOWS 7.

ANY IDEAS? (CAPS ON FOR EASE OF TYPING,NOT YELLING, WHO CAME UP WITH THE YELLING BIT? IT WOULD BE RED OR BY PHONE IF I WAS YELLING AT SOMEONE, HATE THE E-MAIL EDIQUATE PEOPLE, WHO GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE HOW I TYPE. FIRST AMM. RIGHT!)

EDIQUATE ?? ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to HP PAVILLION/VISTA WILL N ...

I think you mean 'Etiquette': Rules governing socially acceptable behaviour DUMBASS !!

However, I didn't set the rules of etiquette - so if you're gonna come on here, SHOUTING, telling me that you don't give a monkey's then I'm just going to leave you swinging in the wind.

Consider how much help I might have been to you if you'd been a bit nicer!! :^0

troubleshooting tips

by Kingbackwards In reply to HP PAVILLION/VISTA WILL N ...

as far as the caps goes...
a. why does red have to be yelling? why not yellow, it has a closer spelling.
b. red or any color is just as arbitrary as capitalization for yelling.
c. someone may never know if they are color blind.
d. you cant call us so why bring it up.
e. this isn't email its a forum.
f. i believe you meant "net-iquette"
g. learn how to type properly.
h. it doesn't give me the right to tell you what to do, but it does give me the right to ask you not to do it. and to not help (please don't type in all caps, k thanks!)

even considering your "non-screaming" capitalization here's something to try...

i'm not sure what you mean by "file dump". can you explain that in more detail?

if is as you describe, that your computer will not shut down if its eithernet cable is plugged in at your home then i suggest you try to troubleshoot:

1. unhook your modem from the router. if you try a shutdown and it succeeds its the modem.
2. if it fails then just plug the pc straight into the modem. try another shutdown. if it succeeds, its the router.
3. if it fails then try it with no eithernet plugged in the back. if it succeeds, its something with the computer call hp.
4. if it fails here too its likely nothing to do with the devices and might be user error and you should try and replicate the geek squads shutdown procedure.
5. even if you get a fail or success try multiple times to confirm repeatability.

no caps at all, how do you like me now!
