ok so my dad and a family friend both have hp laptops with the same problem but for now im using the pavilioon 5185 as reference as my dads is under waranty. me and my dad know a little to some about computers and we cant figure this one out. basically the laptop wont boot just on battery alone. it works only with the ac charger plugged in. the weird thing is the laptop can distinguish whether the battery is present or not. we ran diagnos tests and did other things and it reads the batteries and says they are present but dead but STILL charging yet no charge holds. since the ac power and battery power runs through diff circuits im not aure on how to fix it any help would be great thanks
