When I try to boot I get the messange 1720 S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive detects iminenet failure (Failing Attr: 05h) Please back up the contents of hard drive and run HDD self test in F2 Set up. Hit F1 to continue. Well how can I back up when I can’t get in?
When I hit F1 it tries to boot then a blue screen flashes and tries to boot again. I am in a boot loop.
I finally got to run the self test and it statd. Hard Drive self test, test status: 1-07 fail.
I have tried to repair the operating system and got the message: an error occured while setup was updating partition information on: 28616 MBDisk 0 at ID0 on bus 0 setup can not continue press f3.
I tried using SpinRite 5.0 and it recovered many things and many things were unrecoverable but when it was time to reboot, I got the same message 1720 S.M.A.R.T. How can I get in and retrieve the files I want, what I really want to retrieve are photos I had transferred from my camera the night before this happened.
I alos got an error stop c0000218 unknown hard error beginning dump of physical memeory.
Before I tried any of the above items I removed and replaced the battery and the memory card per HP.
I have an external hard drive as well as a desk top, is there any way I can use either of these items to get into the hard drive and copy the files/photos?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, the photos are of my grandaughter and I really would hate to lose them, there are like 200 of them, my bad for not backing up when I should have.
If there is a way to connect the desktop or external hard drive could you please also give instructions.
