HP Pavillon AMD 64 3000+ 1.8 GHZ

By apulido911 ·
I just bought an AMD notebook tonight where the speed was adverrised as 1.8 GHZ. When i boot up it only shows 350 Mhz. After a while it will show 701 mhz and sometimes 757 mhz. Does anybody know why I am getting these readings? Is this a sign of a major defect or is just like that with AMD?

Thank you in advance for any advice or comments.

Your new notebook apparently has a Mobile Athlon 64 with "Performance on Demand." This is a feature to extend battery life and reduce thermal output. It essentially provides only as much CPU performance as is needed to run loaded application(s).

So I suspect what you are seeing is normal behavior for your CPU.
