HP photosmart c309a printing problem

I have a Hp photosmart c309a that prints 3 columns of varying intensity gray bands vertically on the page. This only happens when I copy something. Printing from the computer is perfect. There is also a black zig zag line beside each column. Please give me some assistance as to have to correct this problem.

I’m not seeing anything that directly addresses your specific issue, but have a look at chapter 13 in the full user guide. Scanner-specific troubleshooting starts on page 135. (p. 135 by pagination, p. 137 in a PDF reader)

If nothing in there helps, try the support forum or contact HP directly.

In addition to the above

Open the Lid of the scanner and look at the light for dead parts.

If there are any Dead Parts from the Light that area of the page will not be scanned and will remain blank. 😉
