    HP Printer freezes PC temporarily

    Locked

    by jmeyer ·

I have just installed a new HP LaserJet 1320 for a customer using a Dell 1000R(1.0 Ghz P3, 512MB, W2K) and when he sends a document to print, windows locks up until the print operation has completed. The printer is shared on our LAN, from his PC, with one other user accessing it. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. =)

What is the complexity of the document being printed? What are the printer’s spool settings… print immediately, print directly to printer, print after last page is spooled? In addition to the answer above (fragmented disk) you may want to check if spyware may be sucking up all of the memory resources. Good luck

Check to see if spooling is turned off.

Go to Printer Properties (Right-click on the printer in the Printers folder).

Go to Advanced Tab and select “Print Directly to the printer”.
