I have a HP PSC500XI All in one Printer/Scanner/Copier that I am not able to get to scan. I am using Windows 2000 and have downloaded the 2000 driver from the HP website. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and each time the printer works fine, but the scanner software does not. The software will come up and allow me to make choices of how to scan, but when I actually click to start the scan, I get the following error message “The specific module could not be found”. I have contacted HP support about the problem and they tell me to reinstall which I have done. I have the correct bi-directional cable for the printer, and my bios is set-up for ECP.
I have used the hardware previously with Win98SE and it worked fine, but ever since I migrated to Win2000 Professional and tried installing the scanner again with the new driver from HP, it has not been able to scan. Like I said the printer works fine and is able to communicate with win2000 with no problems, it is just thescanner portion that I am having difficulty with.
Does anyone feel that this is a driver problem or a set-up problem?
Any suggestions to this delema would be greatly appreciated. My wife is having a baby soon and I would like to scan the ultrasound pictures to post on a website for the family, before the baby is actually born. Thank you everyone for any help that you can offer.
