HP SCANJET 3400C

I uninstalled my scanner on my old system, then tried to reinstall it (with the original disk), on a new system. Both have windows XP Home edition, with SP2. The reason I mention the OS, is this, since installing the SP2, I cannot get the scanner to fully reinstall even on my old system. It was originally installed before installing SP2 on the old system. Now I cannot install it on either one. An error keeps syaing there is no (hpfolder.exe)? to install the rest of the files. The installation gets to about 85% complete, then it abrubtly stops. I was wondering if there was a wrok around somewhere. I have already updated the drivers. Using XP Home on a Dell, with 2.5 G processor, also has 512 MB Memory.

First, ensure that you are installing a driver for Windows XP. Assume so, since was installed and working previously.

See link below for safe mode installation instructions. This usually works.
