HP Scanner and HT Technology

by ttirsway . Updated 22 years, 11 months ago

I have been jumping through hoops with HP for the last several months over my D145 All-In-One unit. The HP Director package that runs the scanning, copying, and printing functions of the unit seems to refuse to work when hyper-threading support is enabled on my sytem bios. It took awhile, but I finally got HP tech support to admit that, in fact NONE of their scanners have drivers that support HT at this time. This while the Compaq side of their website is trumpeting the greatness of the technology. It appears that they are now promoting PCs that will not function with any of their own scanners! Go figure.

I haven’t seen this issue discussed anywhere, nor have numerous searches turned up any information about this problem. It seemsthat if HP is correct and that they really don’t support HT, there would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth out there. Is there a simple workaround I have missed, or is HT really so new that no one else is having problems with it.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Trent
