Hp Scanner

How would a person go about setting either an HP parallel port scanner or parallel port cd burner to look for lpt2. I installed a boca i/oat55 serial parallel port adapter card in the pc to hook the second parallel device to because daisy chaining them did not work, (second device never found). Any way now how do I get either the burner or the scanner to look on lpt2 for the device?

Start with the device connected to LPT2.

Make sure that LPT2 is functioning correctly by checking in device manager. (right click on My Computer, and select properties)

While you have device manager open, look for the scanner or CD drive.
If they show up, change the settings to LPT2.

Open the software that you use for the device, and check for settings or prefferences.
Look for the option to change the port.

Last option, have the device connected to LPT1.
Un-install the device.
Shut down, move the device to LPT2.
Re-install the device.

As Chas stated does the second LPT port show up in device manager. Also is the LPT port enabled and set to the correct IRQ & I/O address on the card. The default IRQ & I/O for LPT1 is usually 7 & 0378. I think LPT2 should be 5 & 0278 might be IRQ 9.Another problem may be that the devices need to use DMA. The suggestion of connecting the scanner and CDROM to LPT1 may be better since you can set the port to ECP which uses DMA in the system BIOS. Also make sure your cables meet the IEEE standard for the devices used. That should be listed in the documentation that came with.

I have the lpt1 port set for irq7 0378 and the lpt2 port set for irq5 0278. The second port shows up in device manager, but in precision scan 3.1 I can't find a place to change which lpt port it is hooked to. The reason I don't have them daisy chained on lpt1 is the second device doesn't work that way, no matter which device is first. And I tried uninstalling the software for the scanner, it still doesn't work on the second lpt port.
