Using SureStore DAT8i 4/8GB drive. Using BASF and 3M/Imation DDS2 120 tapes (rated at 4GB uncompressed, 8GB compressed). The already compressed info on the drives we’re backing up (in WinNT SP6a using NT backup) is about 2.8GB. Backup asks for a second tape after about 2.775GB. Since data’s already compressed on the HDD, we don’t expect more than 4GB per tape, but we’re only getting about 70% of that. We’ve run HP Library and Tapetools diagnostics, and nothing about the drive or media exceed the error thresholds. Tried cleaning the drive. Thoughts?
