I recently obtained a ze1210 laptop that had the internal power jack busted. I didn’t do my research and just purchased a generic dc jack from radio shack. I have connected the two of the three posts (i was only certain about the polarity of two posts). It works fine, as long as i don’t insert that battery, when that happens I lose power. The battery also will not charge. My question is do i have the correct part, or is there something special about the original laptop jack that a generic jack does not have, or can someone help me out with the polarity of the third post. the generic jack that i have installed has a third post but it looks to be redundant, no special switch or anything. do i need to just connect this third post to the other unconnected post? any help would be great!
