HP8000DN

By sanjay.oza ·
I have a HP8000DN on a WinNT SBS4.5 server as a network printer. During frequent power outages we experience the printer shuts-off and comes back on. The server does not switch off as it is supplied through a UPS.

Whenever the printer does that all jobs in the queue fail to print, the queue keeps lengthening and the printer is seen from the server but no printing is done until the server is rebooted.

Any suggestions on how to get the print jobs done without powering down the server?

Have you try stoping and re-starting the spooler services?
If you have other printers that are not affected and you'd prefer not to stop all the printers, see if you have another server to have the printer alone there, or even just a NT Workstation(It can serve as Printer server as well as a server).
Good Luck!

If the printer has a jetdirect card in it, it will need to be reset. The printer should find the server again after it is reset.

This happens alot to our 5SI and 4050's.
