Among the numerous 7020CTs we have in a peer-to-peer network, we have one that’s been experience major printing problems to a HP8000N. I have checked everything from the NIC, cabling, apps, drivers, etc. but it continues to print erratically, page 1-5 then back to half of page 1 then 20 copies of pages 1-3…out of an 11 page document.

This is how I would troubleshoot this problem. First I would see if I could hook the printer up to the Parallel port and print locally (this will verify the Print Drivers). Second, I would plug the suspect laptop into a location where a working laptop is, to eliminate cabling and the hub. If that fails the problem is in that Laptop. My next thing to change would be the NIC with a working one. The next step would be remove networking completly from the laptop including the dial-up adapter, then reinstall networking with the latests drivers for the NIC. Then delete the printer and reinstall the Latest driver for the Printer. One of those steps should solve the problem!!

I have tried all of the above prior to posting this question. First one worked. Second one failed (I even replaced the laptop with the same results). Replaced NIC with a brand new one, still the same. I’ve removed networking and printers twice to no avail. Thanks for trying. Please help!
