HSP56 MR modem

By tim.bhoy ·
Can anyone help with a modem problem that I have? I have a pc-tel hsp56 mr modem which is working fine as long as I don't loose my connection or hang up, if I do the dial-up connection dialog box appears stateing that windows could not detect the modem, yet it appears to be working fine in device manager. The only way I can get the modem to function properly is to either uninstall/reinstall the modem or reboot the machine.

I have also noticed that some of the resources on my pc are using IRQ's up to 22,(modem), which is rather strange as I was lead to beleive that they numbered 1-15.

I am running WinXP.

G'day,

I had the same problem some time back and resolved it by going to the manufacturer's web site and getting the latest drivers for my operating system that related to my country and that modem number. Then unistalled the old driver, rebooted , installed the new driver, rebooted.

If you are outside the USA you sometimes have to really tweak the modem settings to get them to work properly at all times; the danged driver writers assumes that the modems will only ever be used by USA residents, the dumb buggers.
