html form mailto in vista

By hans.woutersen ·
I'm using html forms with action = "mailto:email@xxxx.xx"
this works fine with windows XP but won't work under vista. I would like a simple workaround for this problem or a simple script that i can include in the webpage.

thanks in advance

Hans

mailto reply

I am assuming your trying to do this in an HTML form. Is the action working or is there an error on the server trying to perform the mailto?

In Vista there may be a Registry conflict if you have a separate email client running. Not sure but you may want to try exiting your mail client (thunderbird or outlook as an ex) and try again.

My email Client is Microsoft Mail

by jgnazzo In reply to mailto reply

I changed my email Client to Microsoft Mail.
I can now send mail with a subject line from a HTML form, in Microsoft Vista. However, I do not get anything in the body of the email. (i.e. text field data, etc.). The code works as expected on Windows XP SP4 with no problem.

Code snippet follows:
<form method="post" action="mailto:jgnazzo@gmail.com" enctype="text/plain">
<input name="Name" type="text" /><br />
<input name="Submit1" type="submit" value="submit" /><input name="Reset1" type="reset" value="reset" /></form>

What is your default email program set to?

Vista comes with its own built in email client. What are you using as default?
