Hub To Hub connection

Hi again all !
am still very new to Network's am normally a Multimedia tech not a network admin so so so anyway.

My probleme is simple but hard for me. whe have 2 hubs and my serveur is connected to hub 1. so far that's pretty nice and it workwell but when am trying to link both hubs together I just can't make it work ! I can ping the printer of the first hub but cannot connect to the server or internet that is on hub 1. What can do, do I have to make a Cross RJ45 or something plz help !! !

Hi,
If your two hubs have a uplink and or a downlink port you can connect the two using those ports and a regular nic cable. If not you will have to construct a crossover cable to connect them. Here is a page that has more information:

It depends on the hubs.

If both hubs have only standard ports, then you will need a crossover. You should be able to purchase one at your local computer store.

If one of the hubs has a port labeled "MDI" (instead of "MDI-X") or "uplink", then you can use that port on one hub and a regular port on the other hub. Some hubs have a button to let you switch a port (usually port 1) from MDI-X to MDI.

If you give me the make and model of the hubs, I can tell you exactly how to do it.

One more thing to keep in mind; most Uplink ports share the port next to it, so make sure that if you use an uplink port that the port next to it is not used.
