Humming sound while playing Audio cd's

I have vortex sound card installed on my PC,while playing audio cd's the sound output is accompanied with humming sound and sound quality is also grabbled?
please help?

sounds like pwer line interference. get all of your audio wires away from any power sources. Also check the ground on the CD player, sound card, and PC. check the outlet to make sure it has a good ground. it could also be a ground loop where two connected grounds are at different potentials.

Could be power source interference or you've crossed polarity on the speakers. In anycase try using shielded cables to minimize possible interference.

This happened to me after I upgraded to Win XP SP2. I checked the website for my sound card I found new drivers and updated it and the hum went away.
