Hyperlink a table column PHP/HTML

By jimmy-jam ·
I am starting to tinker a bit with PHP on an Apache webserver. I am building a contact database application and I am having trouble figuring out how to do something with PHP/HTML that I had previously done with ASP/VBScript.

I have the form built to input data into the databse and now I am at the point where i would like to build the update information piece. The way I am going about it is, I am going to do a search and have the search results displayed on a separate page (This is can do). I would like to have the Name portion of the search results hyperlinked that when clicked takes the user to another page with the clicked name coming across into the new page (in the address bar name=john smith) as a varible value that I can use to run an SQL query. This is the part I can't figure out.

Anyone anyone....

Thanks
