Hyperlink in Outlook Express Not Working

I am running Windows XP-Pro using DSL with Outlook Express for e-mail. I could use a detailed roadmap on how to get my hyperlinks to work in e-mail. The hand shows, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Please, can anyone help me? It’s important to my job.
