Hyperlinking from MS Word doc to Firefox (Vista)

by adlion94 . Updated 19 years ago

Annoyance in Vista Home Premium…

I recently succeeded in getting “CTRL + left mouse click” to have hyperlinked urls in a Word 2003 document to open in a Firefox browser window. Registry entry from microsoft.com did the trick. Now I can click urls in a Word doc and have them open in Firefox. But there’s a problem versus the way my previous XP Home computer handled this.

Unfortunately, clicking any url hyperlink in a Word doc immediately maximizes the Firefox browser window over top of my Word window. I want to load multiple links into tabs in Firefox without this “obnoxious” pop up of the browser window after every hyperlink click.

Right now, if I want to click 5 urls in a Word doc, I have to click a Word hyperlinked url, (Firefox pops up), minimize Firefox, click link 2, (Firefox pops up), minimize Firefox again, click link 3…

You get the idea.

I have no idea how to tame Firefox so it will load hyperlinks into tabs but stay in the background of my Word document until I’m ready for it.

Any ideas? Thanks!!!!
