I am trying to create a Image disaster recovery solution using ghost.
I have a Dell 2950 Poweredge Raid 5. Perc 5/i Raid Controller.
I am using norton ghost enterprise solutions suite 2.0. (ghost 11.0)
I want to create a base image of my Domain Controller and file server.
Scenario: Server goes down and I am unable to load the OS.
Capability: I want to be able to Image the Server, to get it up and running.
Problem: I need to know if there is a dos version of perc 5/1 driver or a dos aspi driver that I can include in the norton bootdisk.
Or is this even necasssary? From dos will norton ghost see the virtual (logical) drive or will it see the actual physical disks?
Ghost and hardware-level RAID systems
Although it is not a supported feature, Ghost can sometimes create and restore images to hardware level RAID systems if you load the appropriate DOS ASPI driver to support this. Load the DOS ASPI driver when you create the image file and again when you restore the image file. DOS ASPI drivers can usually be obtained from the RAID hardware manufacturer. For other ASPI driver information, see the document Information on ASPI drivers.
