Just to my right, where my ‘Special’ landline phone is anchored onto the wall (so that folk from TR can call me!!), there is a couple of large swing-out windows that open onto nothingness. Of an evening or early morning, I can swing these windows open and listen to absolutely nothing!
Apart from the sound of a cat-fight, or the odd drunk stumbling home (it is the Highlands of Scotland after all!) there is absolutely zero sound. It’s in those moments, those minutes, that I seem to feel at most at one with life. I watch various television programmes that illustrate how difficult it is to see the stars at night due to pollution caused by living in a city and the volume of illumination from city street lights ‘fogging’ the astronomers’ view.
In Tain, there are about FOURTEEN street lights. The stars just burst through as a result and on even a dull night, you’d be hard-pressed to deny their existence.
I’m just wondering how the ‘Sky at Night’ is seen by the TR peers… ?? 😉
