I cannot open system properties in windows xp

i cannot open system properties by right clicking on My Computer but i can open it through control panel i also cannot open display properties by right clicking on desktop i also cannot open norton antivirus and its icon is not displayed in System Tray
i also cannot open registry editor through START>RUN>regedit
pleas help me how to solve the problem

Sounds like some kind of Infection

That is written to break Norton's and adversely affect the computer.

Try Loading Avira AV updating it and then perform a full scan in Safe Mode and see if you can clean it out that way.

Sounds like you are on a Work/corp. computer. If so I wouldn't try to get around it... Thats all the stuff I disable in our group policy's... Other than I wouldn't allow you to get to it through the control panel either...

But if this is Legit, I would run a virus scan. Since you cant open nortan I would try to install avast or AVG, both are free, update them and scan, also I would get Spybot S&amp and update that and also run a full scan. Also I would run a chkdsk to attempt to repair corrupt files if that causing your issues.... "Win+r" gives you the run command type cmd, then type chkdsk /r, reboot, and let the PC do its thing.

Are you the system admin?

Sounds like group policy or something is effecting your ability to perform these functions.
