I Can’t Ping to 192.168.x.x – My Router’s Default IP Addresses
Lockedby sukarelawati · about 15 years ago
The router is Vodafone Zuhause Talk & Web.
LAN is fine, but the respective LED for Data Signal Strength and Data Active refuse to light. If it’s only the Data Signal Strength, perhaps I can say it’s normal. But now the Data Active is also not lighting, which should mean no connection to my PC.
Is this a sign of a fried router? How can I be sure? And how can I repair it?
Thank you.

You mean disconnect the power adapter from the router? Or disable LAN?

I’ll see if it works.

I’m sorry but I’ve strong expectation that it’s not as simple as that, but I’ll surely try that sooner. I really need help, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that now I’m connecting with another router, a wired one.
In the meantime, any other suggestions?
By the way, how can I post image with my reply?

rebooting the cable/dsl modem as well?
What about the cabling between the cable/dsl modem and the router?
Go into the routers setup (plug in directly) and check settings in there as well. there may just be a problem with a setting.
Since this is wireless, I would say that maybe the wifi portion was turned off for some reason?

Alright.
With the ipconfig/release, I get this message:
“All adapters bound to DHCP do not have DHCP addresses. The addresses were automatically configured and can not be released.”With ipconfig/renew, I get this one:
“DHCP server unreachable”.With ipconfig/all or just ipconfig, the LAN adapter’s IP is set to 169.254.217.212, when it’s supposed to be 192.168.0.x.
Right now I’m connected to the Internet via my other router – a wired ADSL modem that requires PPPoE (just in case so I mentioned it), and this modem connects to my PC via the same RJ-45 connector/port that I use to connect to my Vodafone router (yes it’s wireless, but my PCs have no wireless adapters), and that both routers use the same LAN adapter.
Do I have to change the MAC address? How?
And I wanted to upgrade the router’s firmware (in .img format) but I don’t know how, and I don’t even know IF I ever can do it when I can’t communicate with the router – seems like only the LANs connecting but only the one on my PC that actually communicate, the other one on the router is idle. Because when my PC sends data to it, it doesn’t respond at all.
Please, help me!
