I can't record via line-in

By featsfanbob ·
I am trying to record music via line-in. I can hear the music through my PC's speakers but when recording (using the MusicMatch software), I cannot hear the recording. I have checked and enabled my Windows sound settings. I feel I'm missing something simple and obvious. Help!!

I assume that you have all the settings for recording properly configured. That is clickin on the little yellow speaker selecting, options, properties, recording, selecting line-in and OK it in recording mode to make sure that line-in option for recording is not marked for mute.
Also, if you have line-in for recording, make sure that line-in for playback is not marked. Otherwise you might create a conflict.

Good luck!

Hearing the music does not mean that the sound card knows it has to record from line-in. So, double click on the volume icon in the task bar the go to properties-recording and select line-in. Also go to mulimedia tab in Control Panel and select a 44100 hz sampling rate for recording (CD quality). If it still doesn't work, then your line-in is defective and you should have your sound card replaced/repaired.
