This is a touchy situation, since many of the companies are shying away from folks who are only certified and have no practical experience.

Most if not all computer support personnel are now making 8-10 dollars an hour, unfortunately, if you were making more as a cook, it is always a career to move back to (not to be mean). The fact is that you will have access to mediocre desktop support jobs, but nothing that is substantial, but there is a way to help you.

First, hit a local computer shop and get at least a year experience. With a computer shop, you will get exposed to several different sides of computing support and processes.

Second, after that year, then go to a "pimp" office, otherwise known as Contracting Companies and see if they can place you. You will then be making the minimum for the profession, but make sure you get 5% more than what they tell you, since they love to cut pay!

Last, make sure your certificates are current and never give up going after the latest in technologies and learning it. And it never hurts to learn a programming language either in Java or .NET!
