I dont know the make of the video card

By andrechandoo ·
Hi,
I have a video card, but i cant tell the make of it. Someone replaced my working NVida card with this unknown one. I dont know which driver to get for it. It does not say on it. There are no markings. I think it is under the heat sink. But i cant remove the heat sink, it would get damaged.
Is there another way of determining what kind of video card i have.?
Thank you

Check on boot up

Turn your monitor on first, 20 seconds at least before you turn the computer on. When you turn on the computer, the first screen will be the video card. It should list the mfgr and the bios version along with the amount of memory installed on the card.

If that doesn't help

Download a copy of Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com) and it will tell you the video chipset in the display section.

One Other Way

I ditto JamesRL's recommend for Belarc Advisor!

Plus, you can check it in Device Manager.
1. Right click My Computer.
2. Select Properties.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click the Device Manager button.
5. Single left click on the plus sign (+) in front of 'Display Adapters.'
6. You can get the manufacturer name typically by then right clicking on the display adapter, selecting Properties and looking on the General tab.

...hope ya get what ya need.
