I got a virus in my chrome browser, urgent help.

    by aliaman600 ·

When I search something in chrome, it redirects to website named “tobepartuo.com” and then to bing.com. It also randomly closes chrome when I’m using it. I searched online for solutions, can’t seem to find one. The virus also randomly opens and closes some app on my PC, but it does it so fast I can’t read the name of it. I checked my extensions, there was this extension called “Properties” which seemed fishy. I removed it and the issue with redirecting to tobepartuo doesn’t happen, but the issue of chrome randomly closing and that app opening still happens. This started when I was trying to download something from the internet, and a “Your file is ready to download.iso” file downloaded. I may have clicked on it I do not remember. I need this matter urgently fixed, since I am in school and everything I do is on my computer. Please help!!

Can you tell what that “something” that tyou tried to download was? Some things are harmless, some things aren’t. And apparently your something was.

If there is a virus in your chrome browser, as you write, the short-term solution is simpe. Don’t use Chrome browser, but any other (like Edge in Windows 10 or Firefox or – if you happen to use Avast Antivirus, the secure browser coming with that program. But it could be, of course, that the virus is not in the browser, but found a nice place somewhere else on your computer.

If it’s only in Chrome, uninstall that program and see what happens if you download and install it again. Maybe (not a very big chance) all is fine again.

But first make a copy of “everything you do for school” on a USB-stick, an external hard disk or the cloud. Preferaby 2 copies on different media. Then it’s safe while you go for a long-term solution, which can be removal of the virus or reinstalling Windows.
And don’t make a copy of that .iso file that caused all this. See if you can delete it.

Ok, i do not remember exactly what i was tryna download, but i know it was something from getintopc.com. And i know that the virus isn’t only in chrome neccessarily, because as i said, theres this other program that keeps opening and closing on my pc. It happens so fast that I don’t get the time to see what program it actually is. Uninstalling chrome and reinstalling won’t solve the problem as a whole. because the virus is on my pc as far as i know. I can and have deleted the .iso file. Is there an anti virus program that can help with removing this virus? Or do I do the “reinstalling windows” and storing important stuff on hardrive as u said? Thanks for replying!

Since you told you had a virus in your browser, I replied to that problem.

Anyway, it seems that the antivirus you currently use didn’t catch this malware. You can try a bootable antivirus disc. Some antivirus-companies offer such. However, success isn’t guaranteed at all, but it might be worth a try. If no luck, there’s the reset o0r reinstall Windows route to go.

I’d start with a System Restore to before you went to that site to download something. It’s not a reinstall, but a good way to go back to what worked. That is, if it works.

I was playing Minecraft and when I quit it, I went to Google but it brought me to a different engine (poshukach), I haven’t downloaded anything online it just appeared out of nowhere, how do i remove it from my search engine list, due to the recent update of the option of removing a search engine getting removed its still there and I fear that it will still affect my browser and pc.
