    I gotta distribute those IRQ’s

    Locked

    by e-dog ·

I have an A7V motherboard with an Athalon 750, I don’t have many devices so I would like to assign an individual IRQ to each but when I force a slot (for example my NIC card) to take IRQ 10 the Promise 100 ULTRA follows it to the same IRQ. Also when I try to get USB un its own by moving my sound card to a different IRQ the USB follows it there. I’m not having any problems with conflicts but I would like to have everything separated if I could. Any solutions?

With PnP it is not necessary to split the IRQs like in the old ISA/EISA days. That said, I still do pretty much the same thing.

Leave USB at IRQ 10. Set the IDE controller to IRQ 14 and use IRQ 5 for your NIC. You still have the priority issues to deal with.

USB will require a higher service IRQ than the other items.

      Hope this helps
