This is a laptop that runs win98, has a cd drive, usb drive, floppy drive, and ports on the back for a printer, extra monitor, headphones, etc. It even has an adapter for the ethernet card and one to connect it to the TV.
But it only has 64mb of RAM (upgradeable to 128) and a 6GB hard drive, plus it only has a 300Mhz processor and a 1 bit (?) display so I can not use my broadband connection on it. I have requested a cd from one of the free internet access companies (10 hours)to see if that will work.
Some of my questions are: where do I find drivers to make my usb work??? A friend looked at it and told me it has wireless capabilities but where would I get a wireless card that would work with this ancient system and hardware??? And if my broadband won’t work with it, what hope do I have that it would work with the current wireless technology???
I have not hooked up my printer to see if it will work on the laptop but I have had this printer and monitor since my desktop was running win98 so I have hope there.
The main reason for my questions is that right now, and for another year, I am a student trying to get off disability and am ‘too broke to pay attention.’ This was a gift from a friend who bought it at an estate sale and knows nothing about computers, she just knew I wanted a laptop.
I formatted the drive and put win98se on it and OpenOffice is my word processor.
What will it be when it grows up??? That’s a question for someone more knowledgeable than I am.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
