I have a brand new Dell Laptop, with Windows 7….

    Locked

I have a brand new Dell Laptop, with Windows 7, Home Premium, and after the 3 weeks when I turn on my laptop, I receive a message stating 1-3 indexing process….PLEASE DO NOT INTERRUPT, YOU HAVE LOST YOUR NTFS PROGRAM!

I have no idea what this means, but what I do know is that this laptop runs much slower. In the past I owned a Dell laptop with Window XP, and I had problems with that one as well. I probably did something I was not supposed to, BUT I bought this laptop to email my family and play games from time to time.

I don’t know what ‘HomeGroup’ means, either.
When I received this laptop I had two C:// files, and now I have lost one of those. If I could have someone call me, and go through the Citrix/GoToMeeting and see what has happened I would appreciate it.

I must be able to trust someone from either Dell, Microsoft, or techrepublic. I spent quite a bit for thid laptop, and I want it to run like it did when I received it.

    Thanks,

    Susie

sounds like it should still be under warrantee, i would take it back to where you purchased it and have them look at/fix it

        I second that.

“YOU HAVE LOST YOUR NTFS PROGRAM!” doesn’t even really make sense to me, and why the indexing service runs as a result is a bit baffling as well.

I would certainly take it back to the place of purchase and have it looked at. I’ve seen several brand-new Dell and HP laptops with problems, and heard of even more. It is sometimes a hardware problem (like a drive controller failure), so the only course of action is a replacement for the laptop.

        Good luck.

What did you do before this happened?

You are a medical Professional are you member of the local MRC?
