I have a pc which “sometimes” fails at the POST

Once It does boot it runs fine without any problem. This problem doesnt happen all the time. the problem not being regular is what is making it difficult to troubleshoot. Im not getting any thing on the screen, not getting as far as the 1st beep.
any advise welcome…
