I have McAfee, only heard bad things…

    by garloom26 ·

So like the title states, I have McAfee Antivirus installed on my desktop, and have had it for 3 years. I have had no issues but I hear it is hard to remove. Does it actually get the job done? Is it as shady as everyone says it is?

https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/ doesn’t make me think it’s bad, so I think it gets the antivirus job done.

      Who is “everyone”?
And what bad things did you hear?
And how important is the ease of removing it when it works to your satisfaction?
What alternatives are you thinking about?

Just generally I’ve heard about shady things about the company on forums or from old IT teachers. Just like how they make it hard to remove. I suppose it isn’t that important to me since it seems to work good and provides an antivirus scan. Alternatively I have been thinking about Malwarebytes.

McAfee Antivirus is a widely used security solution known for its robust protection against malware and cyber threats. While many users report satisfaction with its performance over the years, some have found it to be resource-intensive, potentially slowing down their systems. Additionally, removal can be complicated, often leaving behind residual files. Despite some negative perceptions regarding its user experience, it is generally effective in providing security. If you’re considering alternatives, there are several other antivirus options available that may offer a better fit for your needs.

So people say the same thing about Norton security some people just don’t like the inconveniences that they have but in the end they protect your computer and get the job done.
