I lost admin rights on XP?

by skittle1337 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

My computer was fine this morning.

I got home at 6 today and I find I’ve lost all admin rights. I log onto the 3 other accounts on this computer. All of them have also lost admin rights as well (this is a home computer, so all accounts have admin rights)

What I mean is that I cannot… er.. it’d be easier to tell you what I CAN do.
I can access documents and folders.
I can use basic settings.
I can surf the internet.
That’s about it.

I cannot run most programs (I can’t even run WMP)
I cannot use shortcuts
I cannot access higher level settings, like user accounts under control panel (or else I wouldn’t have this problem)
I usually have about a 6-7 icons in my start up tray when I start my computer. Now, I have 2- the volume control and Safely Remove Hardware
I cannot acess the properties menu of My Computer.
I ususally have a very large list under task manager processes. The list is now maybe half the size it should be.

I was able to scan my hard drive directly without having to start up AVG separately. So far, I’ve found several trojans: Zlob, Wimad.E, and Wimad.D

Assuming that it is the viruses causing it and I get rid of it, how would I regain Admin Rights?
