I love America

by drowningnotwaving In reply to I love . . .

I love America.</o>

And I love Americans.</o>

Just because they make us all look so much better.

Let's just count the ways, shall we?</o>

I love how they have a constitution that is, indeed, the envy of the free world. And I love how they spend their taxes and time, ensuring the constitution is mocked, ignored, ran over, shoved in the ground, shot the **** out of with automatic rifles, and THEN convince themselves that it was done in the name of freedom !!</o>

Taking away freedom, to make us more free. LOVE IT BROTHER !</o>

Let's take a 'for instance' on this one, although the list of potential examples is so long that it's difficult to grab one that stands out. But this one really is a doozy.</o>

All manners of freedom have been given up for the 'war on terror'. The government can even now have carte blanche access to every single thing you look at on the internet for god sakes!!! Doesn't matter that you not only didn't commit a crime - heavens the thought may not have entered into your head. But hey, let's make sure that someone can check what you are reading, saying and discussing with your friends. Because to protect your freedom, we have to take it completely away.</o>

I love Americans for freedom of speech. Oh dear. You can be free to say what you want as long as you understand "you're either for us or against us". To say anything against GW Bubblehead makes you, by definition, a supporter of terrorism. Or of the drug lords. Or the gay movement. Or freedom from religious pretence and persecution. "For us or against us". It is unbelievable. Don't Americans see that in one sentence, nearly 250 years of democracy and (well, okay, except for anyone non-Anglo in their genetic make-up) open debate on the principles of free speech have effectively been vetoed by the white house? Because if you're not for us, you're against us.</o>

I love Americans for their innocence. How innocent is it to believe that you can **** up terrorists with a leopard tank and a few F18's? When that strategy worked so well with those pesky commies in Vietnam? Is the logic so simple? When we've annihilated every rag-wearing brown-skinned man, woman and child in Afghanistan, can we all sleep more peacefully at night?</o>

I love Americans for their simple definition of a terrorist. It's someone who can't afford to buy proper weapons from MacDonnell Douglas or Boeing or whoever the **** is selling armaments. But then, oh let's just recall a few years ago - wasn't it America who gave away - for FREE !!!! - all of the weapons and the armaments and the trucks to move them around and the training in how to use them - to Al Qaeda ??????</o>

Oops I forgot - "for us or against us".</o>

I love Americans for their gung-ho - their aggressive (some may say pro-active even) taking the fight to the terrorists. Especially the painful ones that live near the oil. Haven't seen them actually take the fight to the Chinese yet - who seemingly stand for everything that America opposes. Is that because a) they're too big or b) they don't own the oil? No - there is a better way to fight them Chinks. No, the answer is to mess with their heads and show them a brand of capitalism and shake their yellow-skins from the inside out. In years to come, when pretty much every single manufacturing facility in the USA is closed down because cheap labour in Asia commercially blows them out of existence - will that echo freakily like giving Al Qaeda the weapons and training??</o>

There was a time when America wasn't so gung ho and proactive. When it didn't feel the need to be first in the firing line. When was that? Oh yeah - WW1 and WW2. But hey the important thing then was to sell weapons to both sides first - get them in horrendous debt - and then wait until one side looked like going okay and jumping on the bandwagon. Sell the weapons, secure the debt, come out smelling of roses. Beautiful. Now THAT is entrepreneurship at its finest.</o>

I love Americans for the comedy of the presidency. First, they revere like royalty the memory of a dead president who did nothing but screw his way through hundreds of women, even basically in front of the television - who can forget that special rendition of 'happy birthday Mr. President'? Then a guy who breaks every law of integrity and decency and doesn't actually stop before he is, well, just breaking every law - and let him off the hook? God, I'm holding my stomach now 'cos it hurts to laugh so much. Then, let's bring in a geriatric actor with the hand of the armaments makers so far up his butt you can see their fingers moving in his mouth. Star Wars? Hello? Did you really feel you'd be safer with half the globe's nuclear armaments up in space over your heads? At least Clinton abused his power in a way that we can all understand. I mean she may have been fat but she was a teenager. We may shake our heads but hey who hasn't thought of it once or twice? And just when we thought it couldn?t be any funnier - Bubblehead !!!!! GWB is proof there is a god and that he or she has a sick sense of humour. It's like a bad episode of Monty Python - sometimes you laugh until you cry, but mostly you just cry.</o>

I love Americans for their blind support of Israel. It's very important here to distinguish this from their support of Jewish people and their freedom to live peacefully anywhere in the world. Because let's face it - there are no religious people in charge of Israel. Now just so you know, I lost a brother a couple of years ago in the Bali bombings. I have no allegiance to pathetic greed-driven causes and their suicide bombers. But I am fairly sure that there are a whole lot of mothers in both Israel and Lebanon right now that can tell you how it feels now that their child will never return home. Is the distinction between a suicide bomber or a turbo-charged gunship somewhat lost in terms of what is truly terrifying?</o>

I love Americans for their complete dominance of the capital free economy. Not necessarily in terms of specific markets here and there, but more so because they were the first country to understand the economic beauty and inherent genius of fear. Scared people buy stuff. Simple as that. You don't actually have to use the guns on your own people when you have Rupert spitting out the daily rhetoric of "today's terrorism alert is on factor 3". (By the way, when they say they are on high alert or even extreme alert - does that mean there are days when the CIA is playing baseball, masturbating in the toilet and chewing gum on 'really small alert'??). And scared people toe the line. What, you say? Some leftie talking up alternative strategies? TERROR ALERT 4 !!! You're for us or against us buddy.</o>

And I love America's definition of a free economy. It's free when it's ours. I mean, spending billions and billions propping up an outdated and non-competitive agricultural industry, giving fishermen billions of dollars to buy boats that can't actually catch any more fish 'cos they just aren't there any more - well I guess the free economy has its limits. And isn't it beautiful that you can give these billions and billions of dollars to individuals and companies to prop up their artificial success and you think that this is fine (indeed, it's "helping our fellow Americans like this that makes America great"), but heaven forbid giving billions in aid to the suburban poor or minorities - because that would just encourage them to stay poor!!!!!!!</o>

Are there other ways to do it? Yes. - to fight terrorism? God yes. Just look in the UK. You can actually infiltrate the groups, get inside, trace the money paths, trace the phone calls, and stop it before it happens. - to be a free economy? Yes. Just be one. - to believe in freedom of speech? Well that's tricky.</o>

And no, you don't have to take away the liberty and freedom of every single individual to make this happen.</o>

And at some point you may actually even be able to sit down at a table and try to work it out.</o>

"But they're animals who will never listen to reason and will just keep on killing for killing's sake", comes the response.

<o></o>

The genuine question is - to which side are you referring?

<o></o>

Now let's be positive. There was a time when all things American genuinely meant freedom. It meant opportunity. It meant respect for other people and other ways of life. It truly was the first real democracy of the people, by the people and for the people.</o>

Oh well, just like the commies - it was a good experiment while it lasted but you can't genuinely give freedom to the masses. The difference is that the commies wasted too much money and man-power behind the guns to enforce their way. America leant that it's so much more convenient to take control of the masses with a remote control and flat-panel TV screen.</o>

In the US of mighty A, all that?s needed to control the masses is to remind them - "TERROR ALERT 13 - for us or against us".
