General discussion


I need a check list.

I am a greenhorn in the administrator arena. I have just been trusted with three servers and 20+ workstations, with very little experience to help with the supposed common practices of keeping an intranet up and running smooth. So far, I have not run into any problems, but I wish to prevent problems before they happen. What can I do? Is there a everyday check list to help infant administrators along in this cruel world we call reality? I am learning more than I ever would as a grunt, but likea grunt I need more instruction. Please help.

Check list

I dont know what your daily tasks as of now.
But some things i would try to do,
Check user policies
Perform backups
read through system logs
make sure SAM's are being backed up to BDC's
Meet with Department managers to discuss
expected needs so that you make make
hardware ans software uprades before needs
Check manufacture sites for patches and
upgrades to Hardware and Software.
