I/O Error failed to ArcRead the boot par

By RobertJolicoeur ·
Help, I need to recover data off a hard drive, but when I try to boot it I am prompted with an "I/O Error failed to Arcread the boot partition." The hard drive is a WD 10 GB. Is there a way to get this onto another windows 2000 professional machine without corrupting the other hard disk? I just want to save some critical data and toss the drive. Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Try installing the drive on the secondary IDE channel of a different machine. That way you will not even have to reconfigure the jumpers. If the drive is accessable, it will show up in windows explorer or my computer, and you can just copy the files you need to good drive.

This assumes your bios will auto-detect the drive when you install it.
