I am very sad.
I have a laptop which was running Ubuntu 8.04. It was running well and I really had no complaints. I read a lovely blog here on TR which told me that if I upgrade to 9.04 my computer would run faster. I like faster. I went through the hoops of upgrading to 8.10 then to 9.04. When I boot up and log into the system it is slow… really slow. Upon investigation I found that the Xorg process is killing my CPU. I did a little Googling and all the hits seemed to come back to a video driver problem. Only problem is the things they said to check were fine. I also find it a little hard to believe that there is a video driver problem in 9.04 that did not exist in 8.04. Can anybody help me figure this out?
