This all depends on what it is you want to do.

But no matter what it is you need to Love the Work or it will just be another job that you have to go to every day.

Long, long ago

A highly educated and multiply degreed old man, retiring, took me under his wing for some advice. I was very young and starting out in the field of Information Technology, leaning as it was to the Information side.

He said that if he had it to do over again, he on the Information side, too, would master an aspect of the Technology that very few had mastered. It was a choke-point, he said. The Information had to go through that Technology.

Very high-paying, he said, and it was. Job security, he said.

"Just look at that," he said, as we both watched an operator. "That is leading edge."

Soon thereafter, he retired. I never saw him again.

Soon thereafter, I never saw anymore Linotype operators again, either.

Sounds like he's been too busy working, studying, and learning to have bothered with the low road to riches.

Why discriminate?

What about those of us who merely thought of giving you a funky reply?
With the job market here in Michigan a Masters Degree may get you an entry level job because there are so many people already holding Master's degrees that have been doing higher level work and are more qualified. They are also unemployed.
Back when I was looking for a job, five years or so, I had a manager ask me why he should hire me when he could choose from the stack of resumes on his desk and hire a Master's Degree for a janitor. I thanked him for his time and left.
Good luck. If there are jobs where you're at don't be pickayunish.

Plenty of Surveys

by gario In reply to I want to change my Path ...

There are plenty of surveys out there, especially here on TechRep. You seem to have moved in the right track from desktop support to formal education and now need to choose a specialty. Does your current school have any IT specialities such as IT Security, Project Management, Network Engineering, etc. Since your degree is in IS Technology, do you want to stay with technical support, then maybe some certs such ITIL could be a good choice.
