I want to start learning programming in C.

By azul ·
I have tinkered with PHP, HTML, and SQL but other than that I have no knowledge or experience in programming.

I want to learn C fast as a foundatin for other programmig languages. I am desparate to get my career going in a different direction.

What do I need and what are some recommendations for books or other sources.

I will have 1-2 hours a day 5-6 days a week to study.

I appreciate any insight.

This is a decent book

Hi Azul,

Here's a pretty decent book on C. I've found the Sam's books to be excellent starter books to get me going. Please see below for additional information. I'm not sure if there's a more recent edition or not.

C for Dummies

It's a great book and quite well written. It explains things (even pointers) in a down to earth and interesting way.

Also, you might want to check out the K&R C book for reference once you are comfortable with C.
