IBM APTIVA Not Booting

by kristindewey . Updated 19 years ago

I have an IBM Aptiva E series 572 with Windows XP SP2 installed. At first I had some glitches, but tightened some screws, etc (yes I did touch metal with the screwdriver before touching the computer); it worked fine for a couple of weeks. My daughter installed a game (from a CD we bought) and played it for a while, and then later that night I couldn’t get the computer to start up. Last night I called IBM Support and they said they don’t support my computer system because of the age. The tech suggested it might be because Windows XP is not compatible with this computer (which I’m not quite believing it because I met ALL system requirements before buying it).
Last night after fiddling with it, I finally got an error message “BOOT failure. Insert disk into drive A:” Otherwise I can’t get it to go past the first startup screen, I can’t hear the fans and drivers start up either.

HELP!! I’m about ready to throw this computer out to the pasture!!!
