I have an IBM Netvista with an 80 GB Deskstar HD. Yesterday, while my son and I were attempting to upgrade the system with a second HD, I must have attempted to attach the cable to the drive (backwards) with a little too much oomph and pushed one of the pins near the keyway on the connector into the connector itself. If I look carefully at the pins on the circuit board, I can see the crumpled pin. I took the drive to my local CompUSA and was told it was not repairable. But… Is there any way to repair this – can the circuit board be replaced? Can the pin be straightened? Is there any way around this? The drive is almost new (< 1 year) and has all my data on it. Thanks for any help. John
