Hello everyone,
I’m on a factory-made IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60 laptop using an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 display card.
I’m using WinXP (English) with Windows Blinds 4.0 and with the WinXP Cleartype Tuner Powertoy from Microsoft, geared up with an up-to-date version of Norton Internet Security coupled with the Uniblue Power Suite.
1, Every time I try to unload Winblinds I’ll receive an error saying atievxx.exe has crashed with some ‘error in memory ‘read’ command’. (Edit: crashed just now, this time involving explorer.exe instead).
2, (major) Every now and then my computer also goes into standby mode without prior notice. (I’ve turned off everything that might cause my comp to go into standby mode in the screensaver submenu in display already).
3, (major) The worst thing that happens is that at times, especially but not exclusively afte the computer’s run for a while and during ram-intensive activities (iTunes fired up while doing graphics/playing games), my computer would just freeze and I’ll have to hold the power-off button to switch off the computer. Afterwards I have to wait a while before I could switch on the computer again (or else it will freeze when loading windows). Windows also said that it’s recovered from a critical error has has fixed it for a couple of times, but the problem persists. Could this be an overheating problem? Just a wild wild guess.
4, (minor) Certain skins on winblinds also cause mysterious blurs on and only on Opera’s submenus (for file/edit/view/bookmarks etc) but not anywhere else or for other browsers that I’ve installed (IE/FF/Safari). Annoying but I guess it’s just because of the skin?
Any assistance is warmly appreciated since these probs have been plaguing me for quite a while, and the 3rd problem has costed me a lot of time for I’ve only just discovered an autosave extension for Macromedia Fireworks. Thank you very much in advance!
Cheers,
James
