IBM ThinkCentre Beep Codes 1-2

By timothyfwebster ·
I'm getting a beep code on a IBM ThinkCentre. It's just a 1-2 code. No video or any other response from the PC, but the machine stays on and looks like the hard drive is getting hit consistantly.

I've searched for the definition of this code but have found nothing, any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
-Tim.

What is the sequence?

Is it one short beep then two longs?

Is it one short then one long?

Telling us it's just a 1-2 code doesn't tell us anything. Please describe the beeps.

Also, if you gave us the specific model, perhaps we could find what motherboard is in it and look up the codes. Of course, if you know what motherboard it is, you could tell us that too.

But it's very hard to offer any more advice without knowing the exact model number of this unit or the actual Code you are hearing.

Solution.

Sorry guys! It's a 8215, and it's one long and two short.

Turns out it was a bad video output and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

Thank you for your help!
